Fiat is the largest Italian car company, and the Fiat Group, based in Turin, includes Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Iveco and Maserati, plus the Abarth sports car brand. Fiat is best-known worldwide for its economical small cars, such the tiny Topolino (1936-55), the original 'Cinquecento' 500 and the utilitarian Fiat Panda, though it has also made sports cars including the Fiat Coupe and large family cars such as the Croma.
The current Fiat range includes the retro-style new Fiat 500 city car, the Grande Punto supermini, the Fiat Bravo small family car and the Qubo, Multipla and Doblo MPVs. Fiat is also said to be planning a tiny 'new Topolino' and a return to the US market; the company has recently bought a stake in Chrysler.
