Classic Jaguar styling, plenty of power and great V8 engines. The older model even looks like the latest Jag and that, combined with big depreciation, means that it is now sensational value for money. They're also much more reliable than they used to be, too.
Suspension: check bushes and shock absorbers for wear on this heavy car. Early V8 engines could suffer premature wear and were replaced under warranty; and air conditioning can be troublesome. It must have a service history.
Jaguar's Approved scheme at dealers is very expensive, so it's best to buy directly from a company owner who has maintained the XJ8 from new. That said, there are some good Jaguar specialists around with decent cars and warranties.
