Now in its third generation, the RAV4 is a much more grown-up proposition than before. Although lacking a little sparkle, the RAV4 is a refined, high-quality, dependable family car. Three engines are offered, but the one to go for is the low-powered diesel, which has more than enough torque to cope with any motorway incline or overtaking manoeuvre. Be aware that some of the top-spec models are a little on the pricey side.
