The L200 may have lost its long-held sales crown to the Nissan Navara but the new version just pips the Nissan for the title of best double-cab pick-up.
Number one on its talent list is a vastly improved driving style. The rock-hard ride has been softened to SUV levels and it's a lot more manoeuvrable courtesy of the tightest turning circle in its class.
Lots of equipment in the top-spec Animal and Elegance models continue the SUV theme, and the common-rail engine is much less clattery. Making 134bhp, the 2.5 diesel punches harder than its figure suggests, but you need the unsophisticated power chip to match the Navara's 169bhp.
We'd like more bed space, but that's about it for criticism.
