If the S-MAX is about sporty style, then the Galaxy is about frumpy practicality.
But that's by no means a bad thing. If luggage-carrying capacity is paramount, then short of a Transit van, you can't really do better than the Galaxy. It may look big, but it's actually a doddle to drive. The engines are as smooth as the chocolate bars and the interior is more functional chic than stylistic nonsense.
As an all-round family car, you could do much worse.
