When it was launched, Land Rover claimed that the new Range Rover would not only be the best off-road vehicle in the world, but it would also be a credible enough luxury car to tempt people out of their Mercs and BMWs. And the Range Rover has achieved that goal in spades, delivering the kind of off-road ability that you have to experience to believe whilst offering a cabin of unsurpassed luxury.
Effectively, this car was conceived and designed by BMW - Ford subsequently bought Land Rover - and it shows in the thoroughness of engineering. Much larger than the car it replaces, the Range Rover is also much more technologically advanced, as well as being better built.
