The Ronseal of off-roaders - the Toyota Landcruiser does exactly what it says on the tin. No, this is not the best off-roader for the lifestyle set, but it is truly capable off-road, not too bad on it, and has the sort of reliability that rivals can only envy. Its interior is logical, spacious, comfortable and well built, if short on 'surprise and delight' features, while its engines are smooth, powerful and, in the diesel's case, relatively frugal. On the road, the Landcruiser rolls more than some rivals, but is adequately refined for long distance cruising, while residual values are strong and it should just about last forever.
