Renault Scenic

That there are so many small MPVs on the market today is because of the popularity of the original Renault Scenic, a Megane-based tall hatchback that seated only five, but had a healthy dose of versatility.
The latest Scenic does the same thing - the extended Grand version even seats seven - and does it with aplomb. It's certainly the most comfortable small MPV, with an excellent ride, high levels of refinement, large seats and a broad range of engines encompassing some excellent diesels. The driving position is also more commanding than in most rivals. The safe Scenic scores five stars in EuroNCAP's independent crash tests, too.
Bear in mind, however, that there's some anecdotal evidence of dubious reliability on electronic systems in Meganes and Scenics.
