Caring about the environment is one of Volvo's core values and the company is an industry leader in the automotive field. Its engines are efficient, Volvo's factories are among the cleanest in the business, while the company has introduced several innovations, too. The Volvo PremAir® system, an industry first, makes a major contribution to air quality and is available as on option on all Volvo S80s. It incorporates a catalytic coating on the car's radiator that converts up to 75 percent of ground level ozone passing through it into oxygen, reducing pollutants in the environment and making a major contribution to local air quality. In some areas, the PremAir® system is so effective that it can outweigh the ozone generated by the car itself.

In addition to caring for the outside environment, the S80 also cossets its passengers. Company car drivers spend an average of 425 hours inside their vehicles each year, so it's imperative that they're looked after, and every S80 also benefits from Volvo's Interior Air Quality System, which constantly monitors the cabin to minimise odours and pollutants entering from outside. The interior materials, meanwhile, comply with strict Oeko-Tex standards, which sets maximum levels for dangerous substances contained in textiles and trim materials, so S80 interiors are irritant and allergen free.
