"Premium car buyers might opt for a smaller model, but they won't accept compromises. Thankfully, with the new Volvo S40, they won't have to." So says Hans-Olov Olsson, CEO and President of Volvo Cars.


When it comes to safety, the S40 is a Volvo to the core. Independent crash test experts EuroNCAP have awarded the Volvo S40 their maximum five-star rating, including a 100 percent score for side impact protection.

All S40s come equipped with an enviable list of safety equipment, including dual stage driver and passenger airbags, SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) and SIPS Airbags, Inflatable Curtain and WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System) front seats. To help prevent an accident occurring in the first instance, ABS anti-lock brakes with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and Electronic Brake Assistance are also specified. These combine to make the S40 one of the safest cars in its class.
