Worried about fuel prices? Roll with it...

Fuel prices aren't a concern for drivers of one particular Volvo - the company has engineered a car capable of 54mph without using a drop of the stuff!

The Volvo 'Extreme Gravity Car', designed and manufactured by Volvo's Monitoring and Concept Centre in California, has just won major honours in the annual Extreme Gravity Competition.

Volvo's entry saw off stiff competition from entries by Audi, Bentley and Chrysler to win the Grand Prize for being the fastest car; making it the second consecutive year a Volvo design has taken honours in the competition, after its entry won the Grand Prize for Design in 2004.

Speed is one thing, but of course, the Extreme Gravity Car wouldn't be allowed to wear a Volvo badge if it wasn't safe: so it gets a five-point harness, full roll cage and a powerful braking system.

So, clean, safe, and all for a good cause: the Extreme Gravity Competition raises money for foster children, and provides them with work experience to help them become independent members of the local community.
