Volvo has been named 'Best Manufacturer' for the second year running in the British Insurance Car Security Awards (BICSA), hosted by Thatcham, the Motor Insurance Research Repair Centre.
vAimed at raising consumer awareness of vehicle security and rewarding manufacturers' efforts to produce secure cars, the awards are supported by the insurance industry, the Home Office, the AA Motoring Trust and the Advanced Automotive Glazing Manufacturer's Association. The Best Manufacturer award is given to the carmaker 'with the most model ranges and widest market coverage, over the past 12 months, whose trim variants across each range fully meet the awards selection criteria'.
Standard security features across the Volvo range include an alarm, immobiliser and deadlocks, as well as features including a 'panic button' on the key fob, 'Home Safe' lighting and the option of laminated windows across most of the range. Recently, 'Volvo On Call' has also been introduced, an optional in-car telematics system incorporating an SOS button to contact emergency services, which automatically alerts emergency services if an airbag has been deployed. There's also a Volvo On Call button, which can provide personal assistance from a Volvo Call Centre, track the car if it is stolen or remotely unlock it at the driver's request.
