More power to the 2006 Volvo range

Volvo has made significant improvements to its 2006 model year range, including the introduction of new diesel engines and premium and technological features for S60, V70, XC70, S80 and XC90 model ranges. Range highlights include:

New diesels
Two new turbodiesel engines have been introduced, offering more power, improved refinement levels and greater economy. The new D5 has received a power increase to 185bhp, and now generates 400Nm of torque rather than 340Nm. Meanwhile, a 2.4D engine has been introduced, with 163bhp and 340Nm, delivers same power but in a different way. Smoother, better low down torque, quieter and cleaner. Both engines have received new turbochargers, diesel injectors and diesel particulate filters, engine management systems while service intervals have been extended to 18,000 miles/12months. These diesels also come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and both engines meet stringent Euro IV emissions levels.

The new D5 is offered on XC70 and XC90 models, while both 2.4D and D5 engines are available on S60 and V70 models.

Bespoke luxury interiors
Volvo has introduced the InscriptionTM range of bespoke luxury interiors on S60, V70 and XC90 models. Using finest quality Scottish leather hides with ribbed detail panels, which have been 'tumble milled' to soften the leather, Inscription interiors feature leather seats and door panels, a leather sports steering wheel, Nubuck trimmed carpet mats and, on XC90, optional black walnut wood inlays. A wide range of contemporary and classic colours are available.

AWD with Instant TractionTM
Volvo V70 AWD, XC70, S60R, V70R and XC90 models benefit from a new all-wheel-drive system with Instant TractionTM. This pre-charges the Haldex couplings to all four wheels, allowing power to be delivered before any slip occurs. More power is also delivered to the rear wheels during pull-away, to improve acceleration, while power to the rear is reduced when not needed, to reduce fuel consumption. A non-return valve in the Haldex coupling means power can be re-applied to the rear instantly when necessary.

Six-speed Geartronic for R models
The high-performance S60 R and V70 R models are now available with a compact, high-torque six-speed Geartronic automatic/manual transmission, which reduces 0-62mph times by almost a second. This gearbox is also available on the new 2.4D and D5 diesel engines.
