The all-new Volvo C70 is not only great to look at, it's also great to drive. Its body structure is fully reinforced to compensate for the lack of a fixed roof and gives the car a high level of torsional rigidity, which helps provide excellent ride and handling characteristics. A wider front and rear track than its predecessor further helps improve driving dynamics, making it one of the most refined and stable - yet enjoyable - cars to drive in its class.
Two five-cylinder petrol engines are available at the launch of the Volvo C70: a 2.4i with 170bhp, and a T5 with 220bhp. Both are transversely mounted, five-cylinder units. The 2.4i is normally aspirated and, with 230Nm of torque, has enough performance to sprint from 0 to 62mph in just over nine seconds. The range-topping 2.5-litre T5 utilises a low-pressure turbocharger and provides amazing flexibility. It develops some 320Nm of torque from as low 1500rpm, so has a smooth and wide power range. It can power the Volvo C70 from 0-62mph in only 7.6seconds. A five-cylinder D5 180bhp diesel engine will follow in mid 2006.
