This week's wedding blog of the week is bubbling with pre-wedding excitement. OMG I'm Getting Married is the UK-based blog run by Alexis Cuddyre, a digital designer from London who is getting married next September to fiancé Jack.

What originally began as a way to share wedding ideas with her mother in Brunei, OMG I'm Getting Married now is one of the most popular wedding blogs in the UK. Alexis' eye for design and style makes OMG I'm Getting Married a sumptuous blog, crammed with stunning photography to get you in the romantic mood. We caught up with Alexis to find out why she started the blog and how her own wedding plans are coming along.

Why did you decide to start the blog?
The blog originally started as a way for my mother, who lives in Brunei, and I to discuss our upcoming wedding plans as it's really difficult to keep track of emails and links sent back and forth. I thought the blog would be a really good place for us to share ideas in an organised way.

What do you enjoy about writing a wedding blog?
One of the best things about working in the wedding industry is that, more often than not, you meet people who are excited and passionate about what they do. I love writing about great photography, art direction, styling and couples, and the blog offers a somewhat less formal avenue to do so. I have found the wedding "blogosphere" here in the UK to be pretty friendly and it has helped me a lot in planning my own big day.

Which wedding has been your favourite?
My best friends' wedding, Chuck and Giorgia (right), has to be my favourite because I was so personally involved. I was the maid of honour and I've known Chuck, the groom, since First Grade and Giorgia, the bride, is now my Maid of Honour. The wedding took place in Rome in a beautiful mausoleum, with the reception in a gorgeous Italian villa.

What is your wedding going to be like?
We are still finalising the details but it is going to be an evening wedding, which will make it a bit more formal. A lot of the guests will be flying over from the States, Australia and Hong Kong so we are going to have stuff planned for the whole weekend like a golf or spa day as well as a dinner the day before and brunch afterwards.

What has been the hardest part of planning your wedding?
Making those final decisions. I have been 99% sure of so many things, but it has been really hard sending that final confirmation email, or making that final phone call. I wish I could plan 100 different weddings in 100 different ways.

What would be your idea of the perfect wedding?
I really want everyone to just have a good time. If there is good food, plenty to drink and lots of dancing, I don't think you can go wrong. I am also praying for good weather, but I know better to think that way in London.

How are the wedding plans going?
I've had about six months of trolling through wedding blogs and magazines and now it's decision time. I'm currently working on the colour palette with my mother, which will then translate into the table settings, stationery, and overall look and feel. Being a graphic designer, this is taking the longest! Since my parents live quite far away, every time my mother visits, we have these really intense few days were we make loads of decisions together. Next round will be before Christmas.

Alexis' Top Wedding Tips

1. You can never be too organised
There are going to be loads of details and decisions you will need to make and they will come flying at you from all directions and in no particular order. Make sure you note down everything and keep track of appointments and deadlines with a calendar.

2. Go with your gut
Listen to your heart and don't doubt yourself. This might sound corny but I always knew what I wanted to do with my venue and photographer but I felt pressure to keep looking, just in case I missed the 'perfect' place. It made me go a bit crazy and was quite stressful. Go with your gut feeling.

3. Have fun!
Every now and then I have to stop and remind myself that this is meant to be fun and not to worry so much. In the end, people are going to have a great time and the difference between 75% and 76% grey for the save-the-date card is not really going to make that much of a difference. Don't waste time being grumpy.

4. Don't just go for big name dress designers
I haven't chosen my wedding dress yet, but a few things I've learned is to make sure you have enough time between appointments and bring someone fab with you who can give you an honest opinion. Make sure you wear the right sort of undergarments (read 4Beauty's article on body control underwear) and do your research - don't just go to the big names. Some of the most beautiful dresses I've seen have been from small, independent designers.

5. Think of the overall picture when choosing a venue
I swear I have seen every single venue in the universe, or at least in the UK. There were a few on my top list that had amazing details like a gorgeous fireplace, or a fabulous atrium, but I had to keep reminding myself that the overall picture is much more important than the amazing staircase that someone might see for a few minutes and then forget about.
