Jane Galpin, fashion executive on How to Look Good Naked, advises on the best dresses for the hourglass figure, which is when you have well-balanced bust and hips, with a defined waist.

• Don't hide your silhouette in baggy dresses - you have such an enviable body shape, you should show it off. The best dresses for an hourglass figure are shift dresses or body-con style - it will skim the body and follow your curves, and really maximise your best assets.
• A 1950s-style frock is perfect for you: look for a fitted top, tailored waist and a gathered A-line or pleated skirt. Don't be afraid of strapless dresses, you generally have arms and shoulders that are in proportion to the rest of your body. (You can always add a shrug or wrap if you feel too exposed.)
• Hourglass dresses tend to be tight fitting: if you're worried about any lumps and bumps, invest in some body control underwear - a support slip dress which sits under the bust line helps create a soft line from the waist to the hip. If you haven't had a bra fitting recently, book yourself in - it will make sure everything sits in the right place under your dress.
• Look for features in clothes that will enhance your body shape. Pleat details on the upper body and neckline will draw attention to this area. A V-neck or scooped neckline work well for you. Couple a V-neck with some capped sleeves to further emphasise your curves.
• Take note of the hemline: just above the knee is perfect for you, as it will show off your shapely calves.
