I'm scared of wearing blusher. I'm a redhead with pale skin, and I don't want to look as though I've been slapped! What shade would you recommend? Emily
Unfortunately some women avoid using blusher because they don't want to look like Aunt Sally, but it's one of my favourite make-up products. If you choose a shade that suits your skin tone and apply it well, it can give you a lovely fresh glow.
Redheads should go for warm colours in shades of peach and pink and nothing too orangey. There's so much choice out there, so below I've put together a list of 10 blushers of varying prices that would suit your colouring, including five cream blushers and five powder blushers.
The main difference between a powder blusher and cream blusher is the finish; powder blushers give a matte finish and cream give a slightly dewy finish. If you have dry skin, go for a cream blusher as it will sit on your skin better. If you have oily skin, go for a powder blusher as the cream ones will slip off your skin. If you have normal to combination skin you can use either powder or cream.
You can get blushers with shimmer to them; these are lovely for evening but can exaggerate imperfections in your skin.
